Exploring the Sensory Impact of Plants

Updated: May 29, 2024

My research has brought me to one particular aspect of design: Plants.  From the crashing sound of the wind through a cottonwood, to the hushed calm underneath a hemlock forest, plant life has an incredible impact on their surroundings, and each plant has a unique and dynamic sensory impact.  This series, launching this July, will explore the unique sensoryscape of specific plants, how they shape the experience of those around them. To convey the smells, textures, feelings, and experiences of a plant, the impacts they have on their environment and the people around them, and how we as designers can use plants to mindfully curate accessible experiences and places.
